Comments: Charlie passed our temperament test.
It will be in Charlie’s best interest to establish some consistent rules right away and begin a good routine. A solid foundation will be unavoidable, teaching Charlie where in the pack he ranks. All family members will have to follow the same rules and practice firm but fair pack leadership. Positive and negative reinforcement for obedience training will give you the opportunity to challenge him. Charlie will need to be shown how you would like him to behave and proper timing and praise will be imperative.
All dogs should be shown right from wrong in combination with proper leadership. A dog that is allowed to make all decisions and is given too many privileges will take over before most owners are even aware of it. It is apparent that Charlie is making all the decisions in most situations. Allowing Charlie to make all the decisions in your household and not correcting aggressive behavior has allowed him to establish this aggression as a habit. Because he has been allowed to behave this way for a period of time it will be difficult for him to accept the changes you will need to make. Some dogs are born with a dominant temperament and some are taught to be dominant through interactions in the environment. In Charlie’s case he has been put in the Alpha dog position, although the continued mixed messages you are sending are not setting clear boundaries and limitations as far as Charlie’s alpha position goes. He has learned that your house is his territory and you are his subordinate pack members. The problems you are experiencing with Charlie are primarily due to a lack of proper pack leadership and established pack hierarchy. Social pack animals require a defined rank and order. Dogs who are lacking a pack leader will instinctively assume this role. The pack leader is responsible for the survival of all the pack members. This includes protecting the territory, hunting for food and keeping lower ranking pack members in line. Dogs as a species have a different psychology than humans and many times we put them in an alpha position without even realizing it. When a dog is placed in the position of pack leader you may experience many of the following behaviors. Excessive barking and pacing (surveying the territory), hyperactivity, (responsibility too great for them to handle), possessiveness, (the right to all possessions and privileges), and demanding petting and/or play, (you are working for your dog).
Aggression is a form of discipline dogs inflict upon each other to communicate an overstepping of ones place. Charlie is simply trying to keep the order within your pack, as he may perceive that you are not disciplining other pack members properly.
Once Charlie has been able to build confidence, he will learn to trust your judgement and therefore become less nervous all around.
Recommendations: Charlie will need a new, solid foundation and you will have to have 100% voice control over him. Proper and reliable obedience training will give you the control you need over Charlie.
Charlie should begin training via Private Lessons immediately. He will need to learn a new pack structure and experience pack leadership in its proper form. Private Lessons will enable us to train you to train Charlie.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to spend time with Charlie and I look forward to assisting you with any training needs.

Seit knapp einem Jahr habe ich versucht alles richtig zu machen und fair zu sein. Und alles fliegt mir ins Gesicht.
